Help me give my students an LED blossom tree, a fog machine, string lights, cups, icing and other materials for an experience to create beautiful memories and family fellowship!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 4th grade teacher at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of them are limited in experiences due to their financial circumstances. I often have students who lack creativity and language because they have often seen little beyond their home zip codes.
As a reading and writing teacher, I love opening their eyes, hearts, and minds to a world that is beyond their seats.
I want them to have fun while learning, and to understand that school is more than just a place for lectures. I would like to help create loving, educational memories for them from the safety of their school. In the wake of low parental involvement and attendance issues, I would like to help create a space where the students and their families are excited to come.
My Project
This event will give our students a chance to escape their normal lives and enter a Winter Wonderland! Being in the South, some of our students and family members have never seen snow and miss out on the chance to dress in beautiful dresses and wear bow ties!
We are entering the season in which we celebrate holidays, as well as the stark beauty of winter.
We will use the lights and trees to create a forest feel. Cotton will cover the stage and tables to look like blankets of snow. The fog machine will give the magical sensibility to enhance the imagination of our students and community members. Having a cookie decorating station to add to the festivities will be another nice touch to the evening.
