Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My grant proposal is pretty simple. I need more books in my classroom. At the beginning of the year and as a beginning teacher, I thought my library selection looked pretty good. However, as I have been working to motivate my fifth graders to have an appetite for reading, I have realized that by the end of the year the books we have now will no longer be new and exciting. In fact, when my students do strive toward our ambitious reading goals this year, they will be hindered by a limited classroom library. While my school has done everything it can to provide more books, the reality is that resources are limited. A strong and exciting library is a huge part of motivating students to enjoy reading. My students already have so many obstacles to overcome in their education. Please consider funding this proposal so that our classroom library will be an aid rather than an obstacle for my fifth graders this year.
