Thanks to your donation, we now have an exciting new way to stay active indoors—a soccer-themed game table that has quickly become a favorite in our space!\r\n\r\nThe impact was felt immediately. Our students, full of energy and always eager for competition, now have a safe and fun outlet during their breaks. The game table is not just a source of entertainment—it's become a tool for collaboration, friendly competition, and positive behavior reinforcement. We've already seen a noticeable decrease in running and rough play in the cafeteria, and students are more focused and settled when they return to class.\r\n\r\nThis game has helped transform an otherwise challenging situation into an opportunity for growth, joy, and connection. You've brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of normalcy back into their day—and for that, we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of myself, our staff, and especially our students: thank you for believing in our kids and making a lasting impact in their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1677505403082,"projectUrl":"project/lets-play-soccer/7207254/","projectTitle":"Let's Play Soccer","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Francis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8808902_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y201&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683996926820","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8808902"},{"teacherId":541570,"projectId":9080710,"letterContent":"I am writing with a heart full of gratitude to thank you for your generous contributions to our DonorsChoose project, \"Creating a Calming Space for Student Well-Being.\" Because of your kindness, we are now able to bring this vision to life—a sanctuary within our school where students can manage stress, recharge emotionally, and return to class more focused and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe space we're creating—with a turf carpet for a grounding, nature-like feel, a cozy indoor tent, a putting green for quiet play, and a flight simulator experience—offers students unique and meaningful ways to calm their minds and reconnect with themselves. Whether it's through the rhythmic motion of a golf swing or the immersive escape of flying through virtual landscapes, each element of this space is designed to support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and inspire creativity.\r\n\r\nThis project has already begun to make a noticeable difference in our students' learning and emotional well-being. Students who use the space return to class more centered, less anxious, and more open to learning. We've seen increased focus, improved classroom participation, and more positive peer interactions. The calming environment supports not just their mental health, but their academic engagement as well.\r\n\r\nThanks to the Olga Graham Inspiring Teachers Fund, I've been able to incorporate social-emotional learning in a hands-on, student-centered way that I couldn't have achieved otherwise. This project has helped me teach valuable self-regulation skills and create stronger, more trusting relationships with students who previously struggled to connect or manage stress in healthy ways. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to bring this space to life—it's already making an impact, and its benefits will continue to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1739205583617,"projectUrl":"project/the-soaring-nest-a-calming-space-to-res/9080710/","projectTitle":"The Soaring Nest: A Calming Space to Rest and Rise","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Connell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp541570_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714429568939","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/fiordaliza-connell"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_376","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":231,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":85,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.1,"schoolId":376,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Intermediate School 206 Ann Mersereau on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Intermediate School 206 Ann Mersereau","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/is-206-ann-mersereau/376"}
