Help me give my students wobble chairs to use at their desk instead of a standard chair, a body sock that will be used to calm my students when they have high anxiety, and some sensory items.
I teach a special education classroom. Some of my students have autism, down syndrome, communication disorders, other health impairments, ADD/ADHD, traumatic brain injury, and more.
I really try to create a classroom that welcomes all types of learners.
My classroom is often the first experience for these students to be in a classroom all day. I want my students to have positive learning experiences that get them excited about learning. I want them to know that school is a safe and happy place to be.
My Project
The wobble chairs will be used by my students who have a hard time staying seated in a standard chair. Sometimes they just need to move! Im hoping my students will be able to stay at their desk longer if they are able to move while sitting.
I’d love to have a body sock and some sensory toys available for students to use when they have high anxiety.
I am a big believer in teaching my students how to use calming sensory activities when they are overwhelmed or stressed.
I am want to create an environment that is sensitive to all my students needs!
