A Seat at the Table Flexible Seating for Science Lab

Help me give my students 36 stackable stools to create a flexible, safe, and collaborative science laboratory where they can investigate, experiment, and learn together.

My Project

Every young scientist deserves a safe seat at the table—and right now, my students are learning on furniture that has served generations of students and is simply worn out.

My sixth graders are curious, energetic, and eager to discover how the world works.

They learn best when science is something they can touch, test, measure, discuss, and figure out together. Some enter my classroom already confident in science; others are waiting for that first successful investigation that makes them think, “I can do this.” I want every student to feel that our lab is a place where they belong and where their ideas matter.

I am requesting three sets of stackable stools, providing 36 seats for our science lab. These stools will replace aging, bulky seating and make our lab safer and more flexible. Students will have a sturdy place to sit while recording observations, analyzing data, writing conclusions, and collaborating with lab partners. When an investigation requires students to stand, rotate through stations, or use additional floor space, the stools can easily be pushed under tables or stacked out of the way.

My goal is to create a laboratory that supports real scientific investigation while giving every student a dependable place to learn. Updated seating will allow smoother transitions, safer movement, stronger collaboration, and more time focused on science.

Our students notice when a space has been intentionally prepared for them. I want them to walk into our lab and feel, “This space is for us. We belong here.”

This project is about more than furniture. It is about giving 36 young scientists at a time a welcoming place to ask questions, make mistakes, try again, and discover what they are capable of. These stools will serve students daily for years to come as they grow in confidence together.
