Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the best. They are enthusiastic learners who crave hands-on learning. I teach at a Title 1 school and many of my students are living in poverty. This means that they are extra appreciative of high quality literature, arts and crafts, and science/engineering learning. They love having the special responsibility of taking care of plants and pets in the classroom.
My school is highly supportive of teaching science every day, and integrating math, science, and literacy for optimal learning.
My school is also the recipient of Race to the Top funding, which has been used to provide 1 to 1 laptop computers for all students grades 3-12.
My Project
Some students have difficulties sitting in traditional seating. They wiggle. They wobble. They rock back and forth, and sometimes....they fall out of their seats. They often need to move in their seats to stimulate their thinking and maintain focus. Rocking in traditional seats isn't safe, and can be a huge distraction to others. I'd like to offer my wiggly worms a safer and less distracting option. My fellow teachers rave about wobble stools and I think it's going to be an excellent addition to the flexible learning environment I like to provide. I'd like to thank you for considering a donation towards my classroom this year!
