My Project

My students face challenges every day that extend far beyond the classroom. Many of them are at-risk youth who carry the weight of trauma, anxiety, stress, and difficult life circumstances. Before they can focus on learning, they often need a moment to simply breathe, reflect, and regain a sense of calm.

I am seeking support to create a Zen Den, a dedicated space where students can safely reset their emotions, practice mindfulness, and build healthy coping skills.

This calming environment will include comfortable seating, sensory tools, soft lighting, mindfulness resources, journals, and other materials designed to help students self-regulate and return to learning ready to succeed.

When students feel emotionally safe, they are better able to learn, connect, and grow. The Zen Den will provide students with a positive alternative to acting out or shutting down when they experience overwhelming emotions. Instead, they will have a welcoming space where they can pause, reflect, and develop lifelong skills for managing stress and adversity.

For many of my students, school is the most stable place in their lives. By creating this Zen Den, you are not just funding a room—you are investing in their mental wellness, resilience, and future success. Every item you help provide will contribute to a supportive environment where students can learn that their feelings matter, their challenges can be overcome, and they are valued members of our school community.
