Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students are English Language Learners, who have never been to school, and the majority have never been taken care of outside of their home. They are learning to socialize with others, use writing materials, read books, and trust an adult outside the home.
My student live in severe poverty and access to care and resources are limited.
About 15% of my students have special needs and are just now able to access services. Facing all of these barriers, my students' ability to learn, have fun, and help each other in hard times are not diminished. They are amazing human beings who can rise to achieve the high expectations set for them.
My Project
Many of my students have never been cared for outside of school or their home before. They are filled with so many emotions and need a healthy way to learn to self regulate.The privacy cube will give them a space to go to if they need to cry because they miss their parents.
My students come from a trauma riddled neighborhood.
They need a way to process their emotions. By placing this cube inside the classroom the students will have a place to sit if they are sad, angry, or tired that will not disrupt the rest of the classroom. The privacy cube will give them a place to feel safe.
