My Project

My students come to school ready to learn, but many face challenges beyond academics. Some lack access to basic hygiene and personal care items, which can affect their confidence, comfort, and ability to focus in class. To support them, I want to create a Safe Closet in my classroom—a discreet, judgment-free space where students can access essentials like deodorant, feminine hygiene products, oral care supplies, and toiletries whenever they need them.

This Safe Closet will allow students to care for themselves privately, without fear or embarrassment.

By meeting these basic needs, I can remove barriers that prevent students from fully engaging in their learning. When students feel clean, confident, and supported, they are more likely to participate, build relationships, and succeed academically.

The requested items are essential for students’ well-being. Hygiene products such as deodorant, toiletries, and mouthwash help students feel fresh and ready to learn. Feminine hygiene products ensure students do not miss valuable class time, while lip balm and hair ties support personal care needs for a diverse group of learners. Stain remover wipes provide quick solutions for unexpected situations, helping students remain comfortable throughout the day.

All items will be stored in a Safe Closet that students can access independently, promoting privacy, dignity, and trust. This project will improve confidence, attendance, and engagement while fostering a strong sense of belonging in the classroom.
