This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a new teacher in a school where supplies are not widely available, I am in the process of creating a bilingual library almost from scratch for my classroom. From the beginning of the year, I have created several projects for new bookcases and series of books that are of great need for my students. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, we have new bookcases to display books and many new books that are highly enjoyable and engaging. My students are enthusiastic at how our new library is turning out, as they can find books more easily and thanks to that they have increased the time dedicated to reading.

Now it is the turn to adding a new carpet that will make the process of browsing for books more comfortable and enjoyable.

A carpet that will not take too much space, as our classroom is not that big, and that will also double up as a calming space for students that may feel overwhelmed at certain times of the day.

Help me get my students four calming carpet squares that will improve my students’ experience at the library and that they can also use when they need some time to relax.
