My Students

My students love to learn through discovery and hands-on activities. They come to school each day excited and ready to learn, despite the hardships they had to overcome in the past year.

My first-grade students are resilient, curious, and very eager to learn; they inspire me every day!

I teach in a low-income/high-poverty school in the inner city. Eighty-three percent of our students receive free or reduced-price​ lunches. Many of my students are English language learners. We celebrate diversity and encourage inclusion in our classroom and school.

I am always looking for ways to engage and teach each one of my students to the best of my ability. With DonorsChoose, I am able to provide materials for our classroom that my students would otherwise go without.

My Project

My students show so much pride in their learning. Having a rug with explicit spaces to sit would help my learners greatly.

We love to play games and discover new things together while learning on the carpet.

This carpet would allow us to stay focused and engaged while doing whole group lessons. In first grade we learn about how staying focused is a skill. With that being said, having familiar shapes and colors to refer to during lessons would be helpful.

We hope to play math games, do STEM activities and create class art together on this carpet throughout the year. Thank you!
