My students are enthusiastic, caring, and hard-working. They are an active and social group with a positive outlook on learning. Developing a lifelong love of learning is a priority in my classroom, and I want students to have access to materials that will develop 21st-century skills and keep them actively engaged.
Every day the students demonstrate that they are critical thinkers, leaders, dreamers, hard workers, and amazing little people.
I try to offer as many opportunities to my students as I can so deep and meaningful learning can take place. The future of the world is in my classroom today!
We are a rural school in a remote community in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have a large preschool-8th-grade population, and with the cost of basic supplies, curriculum materials, and intervention programs, it is sometimes difficult to meet all current needs.
My Project
As a teacher, I want my students to experience a wide range of experiences in literature and find passion in reading. Having a classroom library that reflects students’ interests and experiences will spark their interest in reading and help them to improve on their reading skills. This nonfiction texts about the people will pique students' interest while they learn about informational reading strategies.
The future of the world is in my classroom today!
I want to provide them with literature to enhance their reading and comprehension skills while taking them on journeys. I also want to inspire reluctant readers.
