My Students

I work with an inspiring group of young adults ages 14 to 19 who have recently immigrated to the United States. My students are very dedicated and focused on getting an education, and most are working full-time to afford to live here while attempting to complete high school. All my students attend a special school within a school to accelerate their learning and move them towards graduation.

Every one of my students is dedicated to learning and working towards graduating and creating a productive future for themselves and their families.

My Project

My students need markers to grow their creativity. Many of my students come from areas where having simple tools like colored markers to express themselves is a luxury.

My group of students is very unique in that they have not always developed the fine motor skills needed to write.

Most need pictures to help them remember words or to develop concepts. It is an effective tool in my classroom and many students have gone from illiterate/semi-literate to graduation and creating pictures is the beginning of this journey. Needless to say, we go through markers like water through a sieve. Please help us to gain this basic need of colored markers for our classroom.
