My Students
Our school is located in Harlem and serves a predominantly African American and Hispanic population. Although most of our students enter first grade reading far below grade level, they usually make great strides in reading progress with a whole school literacy focus.
I teach at a Title I-funded school in NYC where 100% of our children receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn. Many of them want to be the first in their families to go to college.
My Project
The copy machine at my school is often broken and this has resulted in my students not getting their homework for the day. It is very important that students get homework daily to ensure reinforcement of what is taught during the day at school. This is also one way of getting the parents involved in their children’s education.
Having a printer in my classroom will help to alleviate the problem of my students not getting their homework when the school’s copy machine is out of service.
Students need homework every day and this will help them to learn to be responsible.
