Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all have mental health needs and are very unique! Despite all the challenges they face in their daily lives, they are still coming to school and trying to get a diploma. For some of our students, they are the first ones in their families to graduate high school.

Emotional support students tend to have the worst lifetime outcomes and graduating high school is not easy for them - nationally, about 40% of ES students drop out.

I work hard to try to ensure my students don't become part of that statistic. Help me celebrate their creativity, talents, and individual needs through my DonorsChoose projects so they can see their potential and feel valued!

My Project

We had to move classrooms (yes, halfway through the year), so all my posters and decorations had to be removed, which ruined all the poster tape and squares I had used to hang them up (most of which I had purchased myself). The room I have moved to now needs to be decorated and we need to cover the large window in the door.

The colorful postcards of trivia and fun will keep students entertained and will help give us privacy by covering the door window!

I included laminating sheets to laminate the postcards so they last longer, can be easily cleaned off, and it will be easier to hang them up (we learn these tricks over the years). I included the fun pens as a thank you reward and gift to my students for helping move the classroom and their understanding to the disruption in their routine.
