Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of learners from disadvantaged backgrounds; 100% of our students receive free lunch and a third of the students speak a language other than English at home. The students have limited experiences outside the classroom walls. They have limited exposure to current academic materials and often utilize used and donated supplies. They have limited access to cultural and extra-curricular activities as well. The children are eager learners just waiting for the right tools to help them succeed. Please help a great group of children soar high to reach their full potential.
My Project
Help me gather teaching resources to enhance my students' distance learning experience. I would love to brighten my live teaching work space and give students meaningful learning experiences while in their homes.
With materials like a pocket chart stand and number line pocket chart, I can create a classroom environment at home.
When my students log on to live to teach, they will be able to see versions of materials they see at school. I will be able to model new skills, review previously learned material, and introduce new concepts. These materials will really help to improve our current at-home learning situation.
In addition, materials like number bond paddles and number bond triangles can help my students visualize new number concepts. I will be able to use the paddles and triangles to model how to complete the activity. Then the students can complete the activity in their journals to show me on the screen. Furthermore, they will know how to use these materials in the future in their classrooms when they return to school.
