This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your childhood Christmas when you opened your gifts? Well, we felt like it was Christmas when we received our block set from Donor's Choose. Then we realized a dilemma! We had no where to store our beloved blocks.

We are a mixed class of general and special ed Kindergarten students.

Some have special needs where the hands on experience will definitely enhance their leaning process. Our community is a mixture of struggling middle income families and the new influx of families in a growing community. With the city wide cutbacks and school budget cuts, new furniture doesn't seem to be an option. We are a resourceful school using grates when we can. However, we need something strong, sturdy and safe for our blocks.

My Project

Funds for new furniture are not available at this time. We have explored other options like milk crates. We feel that we need something stronger to hold the blocks, like a new storage center. We can better organize them for easy access as well. The shelves will provide space to sort them by shape and to label each unit. This organization will help in a better clean up method. It will also help in locating the needed block shapes.
