Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social-emotional learning is a vital part of my classroom. My students are learning how to identify their feelings, regulate their emotions, and respond to challenges in healthy ways. For many of them, managing big emotions like frustration or anxiety is still very hard.

This project will provide materials for students to create calming jars—simple yet powerful social-emotional tools that support self-regulation, mindfulness, and emotional awareness.

Calming jars offer a visual and sensory way for students to slow down, focus their breathing, and regain control during emotional moments

These calming jars will be an important part of our classroom’s calming area, a dedicated space where students can safely take a break, reset, and practice self-regulation strategies. These calming jars will help reduce anxiety, build resilience, and empower children with lifelong skills for managing emotions.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
