Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a very lucky teacher who teaches students with Autism. My students are very unique, passionate, and energetic! My students all have different and unique skills which make my class full of very special learners. I have some students who are verbal and other students who require devices (iPads, pictures) to communicate. Most of my students engage in behaviors, some more serve than others, but they all need "time to calm". I have a wide skill range in my class, but one thing all my students share is they are all very energetic and need space and equipment to get their wiggles out, or to calm down when overstimulated.

My Project

Most of the students need tools and materials to help them regulate and learn. Some students need materials that are calming, like the Jeteven Cotton Canvas Dome Bed Canopy Kids Play Tent, and Intex Beanless Bag Inflatable Chair, where they can spend a few minutes to themselves and calm down. Other students need movement while learning. To help the students who need movement they can sit on the Wiggle Seat Inflatable Sensory Chair Cushion for kids in a chair or on the ground, Regency Stool, or even the Milliard Anti-Burst Peanut Ball, to help get some of the wiggles out. Some students require a break away from their work where they can get their "wiggles" out. The Portable and Foldable trampoline will be a great tool for those students that need a movement break. They can jump which will help them focus when they return to their classwork. Other students need fidgets or something they can hold in their hand while they learn. The Ultimate Sensory fidget bundle and Stress Relief Fidget hand toys will come into support.

Although every student needs their own materials and tools to help regulate themselves, with these materials in this project all the students in the class will have the tools they need to help regulate themselves throughout their busy school day.

Each student will be given the chance to "try-out" each of the tools, and with help and support will be able to select the tools that work best for them.
