Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I love my little ones and want them to feel safe in my classroom. I teach pre-kindergarten in a Title 1 school.

I practice "Conscious Discipline" in my classroom and have incorporated a "Safe Place". I tell the children that it is a place you can go if you want to be by yourself. It is NOT a time-out place and the children know that. There are stuffed animals, books, pictures of family and friends, and tools to help the children relax that I got from the "Conscious Discipline" website. All my children utilize this area at some time, some of them come straight in in the morning and go there. My little ones with autism especially love the "Safe Place" because sometimes they can become completely overstimulated with the normal noise of a pre-k classroom.

I love the Quiet Time Privacy Cube and I know the children will love it too. I like how it is somewhat closed in but the children are still visible. I will be able to put the resources I have inside. It is for the children, so I want them to help me make it their place by talking to them about the kinds of things they want to include in their special little cube.
