Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These seat sacks will be placed on each child's chair in my classroom. The seat sacks also have name plates which allows for each child to individualize and show creativity for "their" place in the classroom. My first graders sit at tables so each student does not have a sufficient storage for their work folders, reading books, and their work supplies. My students will be able to easily access learning materials for reading, math and writing with just one turn in their chairs. Each student will be able to organize and keep their materials neatly in the seat sacks.

Student organization is key to academic achievement.

I teach at a Title 1 school so for students that may not always have their "own" place at home, these seat sacks will give them a sense of ownership and empowerment in their learning environment. Students who learn to organize their learning tools and supplies achieve not only academic growth, but will also develop skills that will increase their opportunities for life.

By having the seat sacks each student will have a place to keep their school materials neat and organized. Students will then be able to focus on learning and achieving their full academic potential while learning the life skill of organization. Less clutter, more clarity equals more learning!
