My Students

I have the opportunity to work with a wide range of learners. My class size will vary throughout the year. I have had as many as twenty-seven students and as low as fifteen. I have found the only way my students will succeed in school is if they are provided with structure and routine throughout their day.

My first graders are very active, creative, and inspirational little learners.

They always come through the classroom doors very eager and excited to learn. School is where they come to receive that needed attention and desire to learn.

My Project

This year I did a lot of rearranging in my classroom before students arrived to start our year together. To allow students with more space in flexible seating I decided to give my small group kidney table to a first year teacher. In my opinion the kidney table takes up a lot of space in the classroom and I was finding that I had to move closer to each student to work better with them, there was too much surface area. The kidney table was not successful for our group time. Allowing my classroom to have a horseshoe table would better suit our learning needs. Currently I have a small rectangle table for our small group table. There is not enough space for my materials and for six students to work comfortably. A horseshoe table would allow me to work with students successfully in a small group and while also allowing individual one on one conferencing.
