Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Pueblo Vista Elementary School serves a student population where 73% of the students receive free lunch and 62% are English Language Learners. Our families do not have the resources to pay for enriching activities and educational tools that many of us take for granted. Most of our students do not have computers at home and rely on our school for all of their learning experiences with technology. We have a well-equipped computer lab that we use often to enhance curriculum and excite students about learning. Students learn keyboarding, Internet research skills, and the use of presentation software (such as Power Point). A digital slide presentation at the culmination of a project is a powerful way for students to demonstrate what they've learned. To really do it right, one critical component is currently missing from our technological "bag of tricks." We need a classroom digital camera. With a digital camera, we will be able to take pictures of our work for inclusion in our presentations. For example, our Animals Unit digital presentation could include photographs of our chosen animal, its habitat, and what it eats. Our class and I thank you for considering our proposal.
