This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students are highly motivated and eager to learn.

Our school is a high-poverty urban middle school with 98.8% Latino students.

We have about 1400 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The Algebra 1 class is the highest math class that our school offers. Students' CST 7th grade scores need to be Basic level or higher in order to enroll in Algebra 1 class as an 8th grader. Currently there are only 6 Algebra classes. The rest of the 8th graders are in Algebra Readiness.

My Project

I would like to enhance the level of understanding in my classroom by incorporating the use of technology and the graphing calculator software. The TI-Nspire graphing calculator has the capability to connect with the teacher's computer which is connected to a big projection screen.

The saying "picture is worth a thousand words" fully describes my intentions to teach and present key curriculum Algebra standards in my daily lessons.

Graphs,interpreting graphs, finding intercepts and solutions to systems graphically are very important key standards in Algebra. This calculator will help my students understand those key standards.
