This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever gotten to release all your cares by banging on a drum? A lot of the students I work with have a lot to worry about and need a focused way to release themselves!

These students benefiting from this project are Kindergarten through 8th graders.

They all have a natural talent for music and love making music. Our charter school in Illinois is a great place for them, however we don't have quite the instrument collection we would like. Please help us fund this project so we can continue hands on music experience!

My Project

My students need percussion materials such as a Djembe, Casaba, and Konga to stay engaged and get real instrument experience. These instruments will provide students the ability to create their own music. Reading, writing and creating music is very fun for all ages and the students will be completely engaged with the help of these new and exciting instruments. This will provide for more diverse ensembles in the class and out.

This project is very important because we are starting with the very basics of instruments.

While we do have a lot of small hand percussion instruments, we don't have anything that considered to be 'real, professional' instruments. Building a collection of real instruments will teach students how to respect materials and give them a life long music education.
