My Project

Have you ever read the poem titled, "Cause I ain't got a pencil," by Joshua T. Dickerson? This poem describes many of my students and their situations perfectly. My students face some very difficult challenges in their lives, and many of them have a hard time preparing for school. It is for this reason that our school provides most of the essentials the students need for their education.

I am requesting a year's supply of pencils for my students, which is the most essential tool they need to complete their work.

At the beginning of the year, the students are provided with a few of the basic supplies to get them started. Unfortunately, once those supplies run out, it is up to the teacher to supplement for the students who can't afford them.

Additionally, I am requesting two pencil sharpeners, and a storage bin/dispenser to keep the pencils, and the system for using them, maintained in the classroom.
