This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 34 high energy, energetic, interested, and motivated students. My fifth grade classroom is filled with inquiring minds that desire engaging opportunities for learning. My inquisitive students are busy reflecting, asking questions, and demonstrating their learning on a daily basis.

One of my favorite parts of the school day is our classroom read aloud.

Students are able to gather together and listen to a story. This is a wonderful time for building classroom community. Students love to volunteer to read and others love to just listen to the story.

My Project

This rug will make a difference in our students' learning because the students will be more inclined to work together on a fresh, clean rug. A rug in the upper grades provides a space for a morning meeting that builds social skills, builds academic language,.

A rug provides a space for small book groups, response groups, shared reading, shared writing, peer tutoring, independent reading, peer review, collaborative conversations and any opportunities for students to sit together and work closely.

The students would be so appreciative and thankful for a new rug to replace the rather old one that we currently have.
