OWLS Academy is a transition program for incoming freshmen to our high school. While the owl is our school mascot, OWLS stands for Outstanding Ways of Learning to Succeed, encouraging our students to look forward to high school and the unique opportunities available to them.

OWLS Academy provides incoming freshmen students with the opportunity to meet their new teachers, to learn the expectations of the high school classroom, and to make a difference in their community. Our students start out immediately by going out into the community to help lay sod, clean streams, pull weeds, pick up trash, and make a difference. It doesn't take long for these 13 and 14 year-old kids to understand they make a difference.

The gift of walkie talkies would help each team teacher to have the ability to get a hold of each other during the excursions to find out which team needs help, where a team is moving to, and when everyone is ready to leave. Most importantly, if an emergency occurs, teachers will be able to stay in contact at all times. A gift of 8 walkie talkies would be so beneficial to the success and safety of the OWLS Academy program.

This gift would provide teachers, administrators, parents, and students with the comfort of knowing that help is just a click away. Community service is an example that helps develop the character of these students,and these young men and women will be the ones who become the responsible citizens of our community, making it a place we are all proud to belong.
