A National Board Journey for Little Learners

I need assistance with funding to help cover the required certification components for this process. These components are an essential step in completing the certification and allows reflection and improvement of outcomes for my students.

My Project

I am currently pursuing National Board Certification, which requires me to complete several components that focus on improving instruction and student learning in my Pre-K classroom.

Component 2: Differentiation in Instruction

In Pre-K, this means planning different ways for children to learn the same skill. For example, during a letter lesson, some students may trace letters, others may build letters with manipulatives, and others may practice writing their names. I use observations and student work to show how each child is growing.

Component 3: Teaching Practice and Learning Environment

This focuses on how I create a safe, structured, and engaging Pre-K classroom. For example, I use learning centers like blocks, dramatic play, and literacy stations to support hands-on learning. I also use routines, songs, and movement to help young children stay engaged and learn classroom expectations.

Component 4: Effective and Reflective Practitioner

This means I observe and assess students every day to guide my teaching. For example, I may notice a child struggling with counting and then adjust my small group instruction or provide extra practice through games and manipulatives. I reflect on what is working and change instruction to better support student growth.

Through this process, I will become a more reflective and responsive educator, better equipped to meet the needs of every child in my classroom.
