I have an amazing group of students who, in spite of life's challenges, have risen above their difficulties to be intelligent, gregarious, kind, affectionate, and hardworking people. They see the world and all its possibilities.
They're amazing little people with big hearts.
They love to read and learn and explore the world around them. Many of them receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status but they don't focus on what they don't have. Instead, they cherish their friendships, laugh all day with each other, and embrace learning. From the minute they walk in the school's door until the end of the day, my students are focused on living life to its fullest.
The arts are a powerful vehicle that my students utilize to express themselves and their ideas without having to put them into words. I've watched how drawing, painting, singing, and dancing awakens my students' imagination and creativity. The arts provide them with a sense of peacefulness and allows them to interpret their surroundings and emotions. In order to harness their talents and provide a means for them to work collaboratively for the good of the community, I would like them to paint a school mural.
I hope that with the support of a local artist, my students will paint a mural that reflects inclusiveness, vibrancy, and diversity.
If I am able to have this project funded, Ms Jenny Burgei will assist in completing the mural from start to finish. She will help in creating a custom design, selecting the right colors, and adding the finishing touches that will bring to life my students' ideas. The students, on the other hand, will enjoy an educational opportunity that is fun and exciting. They will learn the importance of teamwork and sharpen their decision-making skills. Painting a mural will help my students learn about the elements and processes in art making, as well as different styles and techniques used by artists.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my students and how much they love the arts. Hopefully, with your assistance, they will soon have the chance to paint a school mural with local artist.
