A Multi-Sensory Speech and Language Experience

Help me give my students a multi-sensory experience when they come to my speech room.

My Students

I work with students that have Speech and Language Impairments. I have students working on articulation goals (i.e. how they produce certain sounds such as /r/) and language skills (i.e. pronouns, irregular past tense verbs, phonemic awareness, answering WH- questions, auditory comprehension, etc.).

I am blessed to work with many students for several years in a row.

I love that I get to work with students that are in preschool all the way up to 6th grade.

I have seen COVID-19 interrupt the learning of my students. As a result of the pandemic there are many more students being identified as being in need of my services. My students benefit from multi-sensory approaches to learning including movement, hands-on materials and more visual supports.

My Project

My project will help my students continue their academic learning in light of COVID-19 by giving them comfortable/flexible seating while they are in speech. I have found that when students pair speech and language with movement that more progress is made.

The materials will also allow students to practice their speech and language goals with hands-on and creative materials.

My students will love working with LEGOs to re-tell stories. They will also love using story telling kits with props.

I can't wait to use the boogie boards to target articulation words and language concepts.
