A Mouse for All!
Help me give my students each a mouse to use with our Chromebooks along with a shoe bag organizer.
My Students
My students are from a small community in Northern California. They are amazing kids from working-class families. Like most kids in second grade, they love school. They are motivated, driven, and are eager to succeed.
I have 25 energetic students ready to absorb all that comes their way.
The students in my classroom come from a variety of different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. This means that some students in my class do not have the same opportunities at home to access extra learning opportunities so I am trying to make it an even level for them at school.
We have a very large school, just over 900 students, so the resources are spread thin and we don't have extra money to buy items that are needed to help provide the very best learning environment for my students.
My Project
More and more, we are required to use technology in the classroom. Some students do just fine without a mouse, but others get frustrated by the touch pad. Having a mouse to use for tasks that require dragging/dropping and highlighting text would really be helpful to my students!
We use our Chromebooks every day in 2nd grade and we recently got enough for each student to have their own to use in class, but now I don't have a mouse for each student.
I am also requesting the shoe bag to store them in so that the cords don't get tangled when students put their mouse away after use.
We used them for research, to learn coding, and we also use them to practice skills in math, language and reading. Many of these activities are drag and drop activities which can be frustrating to young learners who do not quite have the motor skill for this. They are also learning how to type in Google docs and Google slides and they are required to highlight text to change font style, size, etc. Please help me provide mice to keep them from becoming frustrated while using technology!
