My Students

Middle school can be one of the most challenging times of our lives. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to help middle school students learn and grow every day. Our school services a high poverty population. Our enrollment consists of about nine hundred thirty students, ranging from 6th to 8th grades, with a 50% free/reduced-price lunch rate.

My students have historically scored below average in reading on district benchmarks and state standardized assessments.

Because of this, they are enrolled in a program that focuses on reading comprehension.

My Project

A mobile workstation will enable me to move between my two shared classrooms more quickly, during transitions. It will also help me bring my resources in close proximity to the students. Another benefit is that being mobile will grant me the ability to provide small group, direct instruction, to those in need by making it possible to access students from different spots within the same classroom, as well as having a desk when we take learning outside the classroom.

Mobility is key in teaching.

It is important to move about and give multiple students your attention as well as access to the instructor. Please consider helping our team become accessible to more students on a regular basis.
