A Matter Of Physics

My students need 3 energy and matter resources, including a Physics Solar Workshop.

I teach 20 inquisitive students(a large percentage of whom live below the poverty level)who love to learn! I enjoy teaching third grade students, and strive to be an effective educator.

That love the students have for learning often isn't enough to master the skills needed to succeed--especially in the area of science. According to the State of TN, students will investigate energy and its uses. This is not done well with textbooks alone.

The Solar Workshop and the Matter & Energy science kit, along with the book that I am requesting, will enable my students to investigate the world of physics. The Book of Questions will get them thinking at higher levels about force and motion, inventions, and matter and energy before they are engaged in the experiments. They will, for instance, discover first-hand how the sun's energy can be changed into different forms of energy. Instead of simply filling in blanks on workbook pages, students will use these manipulatives/experiments to answer questions like "How are doing work and energy related?" and "How do things move and stop?". The kits will make science fun through hand-on activities involving force, Newton’s Laws, kinetic and potential energy, heat, and states of matter.

Your donation will make it possible for these under-served children to meet some important learning goals in the area of physics. Introducing physics in concrete ways now will help encourage students to like science, and maybe even love it.
