My students need classpacks of colored pencils and markers along with colored printer paper to help important math concepts stand out in their notebooks.
I teach at a school with awesome 7th and 8th grade students who love to learn. My students have so much energy and are always finding ways to release it. My students come from many different backgrounds and have many life experiences to contribute to class discussions.
My students love to debate and have discussions about what we are learning in class.
They are always asking how the math concepts we are learning applies to their world outside of the classroom and trying to make connections on their own.
My Project
Having a set of colored pencils and markers in our math class will take our notebooks to the next level. Adding color to their notebooks will make key concepts stand out which will be a help when students are looking back in their notes. With highlighters students will be able to highlight and underline key details.
Something as minor as a marker or highlighter can make a huge impact on a students mindset towards math.
Many children find math to be difficult and confusing, but maybe if their notebook reflect an organized and appealing looking subject it might be the first step towards changing that view.
Using colored paper to print graphs and flow charts that can be glued right into their notebooks can also help students identify important facts and will save class time.
