My ~135 students are working hard each day to lift themselves out of generational poverty. Many have not ventured outside the city. Students from varying ethnic backgrounds and cultures will benefit from this project.
80 percent receive discounted meals, 13 percent don't have access to a mobile device, and five percent live in tents.
They love learning, interacting with their peers, and seeing their progress and improvement. For many of them, this classroom is a safe place where they come, not only to learn, but to be surrounded by friends, celebrate their differences, and motivate each other's success.
I've created a self-guided, paperless Spanish learning classroom. Students work in rotating stations including our newly received, generously donated Spanish library and seven kindle fire tablets (THANK YOU, DonorsChoose.org donors!).
This Chromebook will add another experience to our interactive classroom by enabling students to use GoogleEarth to walk the streets of Madrid, San Salvador, Havana, and many, many beautiful Spanish cities!
I reviewed all technology suppliers for DonorsChoose and this is the most economical, suitable option for our classroom. Our classroom is teaming up with Google to raise $150 towards it. Please help us fund the rest!
