Sharing a space in the meeting area on the rug promotes togetherness. It helps to develop classroom bonding. The students in school need a spot to call their own. They need parameters in which to sit so that they do not disturb their neighbors. With this rug, they will be able to do this!
My class this year is made up of students that are English Language Learners, SETTS students and general education students.
Each student learns in different ways. It is a teacher's job to assess the students and figure out which way to tap into their learning styles. A meeting area provides a space big enough for the entire class and then it can be used for small group instruction. The students also love to read on the rug like they are sitting in their living room. This rug will help promote all of these things. Please allow these students to feel at home. Many of our students were victims of Hurricane Sandy and could really use some help in their school.
My Project
Students will be able to participate in class in front of the Eno board during whole class lessons. They will be able to use the rug to break up into small groups. They will be able to find their own space to sit, relax and read. A meeting area rug will also help during classroom discussions. It gives us the space to sit in a circle so that we can have a group discussion. It allows for interaction of the students who do not sit near each other. It really becomes the focal point of the classroom.
This meeting area rug will make a difference in our classroom.
Right now, we do not have a rug because it was not salvageable. Please help my classroom and my students by donating toward the magic carpet for our new meeting space.
