This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking, dedicated, and amazingly resilient. They have some incredible skills to share with the world. Nearly all of my students experience significant financial hardship at home.

My students vary in their skin tones, native languages, religions, and family structures, but they are all the same in their eagerness to learn.

They have busybodies and curious minds, but best of all, they have the most gentle, caring hearts.

My Project

My students will use these materials during the school day during whole group and small group reading activities. The stories will help facilitate discussions about a variety of social-emotional learning topics. Students will be able to connect with the books and use them to process their emotions throughout the day.

Remote learning significantly impacted my students' ability to regulate their emotions, these books will help them develop these missing social-emotional skills.

These stories will also help them continue to improve their literacy skills, including text comprehension, text-to-self connections, and providing details to support an argument.
