Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I refer to my students as Diamonds. They are all bright and shiny but each is different and unique in their own special way. My classroom is very diverse. It is made up of students of a multitude of different ethnicities, including African American, Hispanic, Caucasian, and Asian American. They all come from a low socio-economic background. Most of my Diamonds live with grandparents and other family members, and some are homeless and transient.
Despite the struggles and adversities my students are going through, they always show up to school with smiles on their faces.
They love school and are always ready to learn. Their parents or guardians can't afford to purchase school supplies when they are having a hard time putting food on the table. It is my mission to provide them with what they need to be productive in their educational journey.
At times my students get hungry in the middle of the day. I have a snack calendar for my class each month on their day. I can do what I can to bring snacks because the students can't afford to bring treats or snacks to share with the class. acks for my students to have on hand when they are in need. Sometimes the hunger pains take over and they need a snack or a treat to get back on track.
