Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always working to overcome new objectives and achieve their goals. Understanding grade-level material does not come easy. My class is made up of students with learning disabilities that make learning new concepts a constant challenge. With lots of hard work and motivation, my students are able to achieve the impossible. Help me provide the motivation needed to get them to continue working hard!
My Project
As a resource teacher, my caseload is made up of students with various disabilities that make understanding grade-level material a challenge. In order to match what their peers are able to do, my students have to put in a lot of extra practice and constantly push themselves to do better. They often have to give up free time to come work with me on challenging concepts. The way I get them to WANT to practice their strategies and push themselves to achieve their goals is with motivation. I am constantly purchasing prizes in form of snacks, and toys that students can earn for completing extra problems, completing goals, and participating. During the week they earn points for working hard and every Friday, they are provided with the opportunity to exchange these points for prizes. Prize Friday has made a huge impact on student engagement and participation. Unfortunately purchasing prizes and snacks myself is difficult. This project is made up of items that I will give to students as rewards. Please help fund my project!
