A Little Gift Goes a Long Way!

My students need 35 copies of The Little Prince. We currently have 5 copies and with 35 we can read the novel together as a whole class.

My Students

My students are thoughtful, kind, and so excited to learn! They range in ages 10 to nearly 13 and love to use literature to explore the world around them. There is much diversity amongst my students and we have nearly 30 languages and dialects represented. This diversity leads to rich reading experiences, discussions, and daily acts of empathy and compassion.

Although we do qualify for Title 1 funding, we do not have much money for resources such as new books, so these new books will provide the option of a brand new experience, benefitting my students and many more in future years.

My Project

These materials will allow us to read a text, The Little Prince, in common across all of my classes so that all students can have a communal experience and be able to discuss their ideas with one another. We are using The Little Prince as a one book experience within our classroom, just as cities and libraries use a 1 book experience to promote community.

We plan to use this text specifically to add to our inquiry about the connections between empathy, compassion, creativity, and identity.

This text is perfect for this inquiry and will lead to much open discussion.
