A Little Comfort Goes A Long Way!

Help me give my students sweet and savory snacks to fill their tummies, as well as ChapStick and tissues to keep them comfortable so they may learn and reach their full potential.

Mrs. Huntsman Spreckels Elementary School

San Diego, CA Grades 3-5

My Project

Nourishing a sense of belonging and connectedness is key to helping my fourth graders feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in our classroom. Before students can put their best foot forward academically, their basic needs must be met. It’s hard to focus on fractions, reading, or writing when you have crummies in your tummy, dry, cracked lips, or a runny nose!

Snacks, ChapStick, and tissues may seem like little things, but they can make a BIG difference in a fourth grader’s day.

A stash of sweet and savory snacks will come in handy when someone needs an extra boost of fuel to power through the day or a little pick-me-up to lift their spirits. ChapStick will soothe dry, cracked lips, and tissues will help keep runny noses in check so my learners can feel more comfortable and stay tuned in to learning.

Thank you for helping me put my students’ basic needs first! By helping me keep these everyday essentials on hand, including hand sanitizer to keep those germs away, you’re doing more than providing snacks and supplies. You’re helping create a classroom where my fourth graders feel safe, supported, and cared for every step of the way. I want my students to know that their needs matter, and that I’m here to help nourish their needs so they may flourish. When little needs are taken care of, we can get to the heart of learning!
