This year is my 23rd year in education. It is a blessing to spend my days at this beautiful community school in the spectacular mountains of western North Carolina. My school is pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, with around 550 students. Many of my students walk or bike to school. Living in a walkable community is so much fun for them!
My students attend an an A+ Arts Integration school where the arts are seamlessly infused in teaching and learning.
The community is deeply invested in the education and nurturing of each student.
The average class size is approximately twenty students and we celebrate our multi-cultural uniqueness and learning diversity. This year we added several classrooms and have seen a large increase in student enrollment. It makes perfect sense to me as we are the best school!
My Project
We are requesting a variety of supplies to help make the best of this school year. The card stock will be used to make various small group and center activities that will last several years. The envelopes will hold the small pieces of the center activities and help keep us organized. The dry erase circles will be used during small group and whole group work for students to show their work and so I can check their knowledge of the skills being assessed. The erasers will be provided to each student to use with the dry erase circles and their individual whiteboards. It's nice to have enough erasers for each student instead of having to share! The chocolate will be used as an incentive to work hard to earn a sweet tree. It may seem simple but these items: tape, evelopes and posterboard will help make the school year smooth and seemless.
