This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During the school year, I always find myself making, adapting, and discovering different resources to help my students develop and maintain their speech and language skills.
Most of my students have learning disabilities and benefit from a variety of resources and visual cues to acquire and generalize targeted speech and language skills.
I am asking for a little bit of everything to organize, present, and adapt the materials I already own and for a few new resources to ensure my students are advancing their speech and language skills.
•The zipper bags will be used to help me organize books, art and craft ideas and handouts by theme or language skills.
•The felt board/easel will be used during structured activities to present visual cues and answer choices.
•The permanent markers will be used to further adapt the materials and books I already own using a color coding system such as the Fitzgerald color key.
•The flashcards will be used to teach language skills such as object functions and adjectives.
•The books, In Between Things and Where is Jumper?, will help my students advance their skills of identifying the location/preposition of items in response to where questions.
•The mouth hand puppet will be used to teach my students about anatomy, the placement of their articulators for speech sounds production and oral hygiene/ toothbrushing skills.
