This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school prides itself on its diverse student body. Students are from various socioeconomic statuses, religions, and races. Despite the fact that we are such a diverse campus, we are a school that acts like a community. Involvement within the school and outside of the school is what makes these students stand out.

This community of learners includes students who strive to make a positive impact.

They do this each year through thousands of hours of community service hours. It is important that all students feel like they can make a difference and do make a difference.

My Project

My high school students do so much for others within their school community and throughout the many neighborhood communities of Phoenix. Many of the students come from underprivileged families that struggle to afford even basic school supplies.

I would like to give back to my students by providing them with a diverse classroom library that will turn ALL readers into lifelong readers.

In funding this project, it will afford my students the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of books at their individual reading levels. Having a choice in what one reads is what helps make struggling, hesitate readers forever readers.
