My Students

My students are mostly first-time school attendees and eager learners! They come from a variety of backgrounds (about one-quarter do not speak English as their first language) and all have a wide range of experiences prior to starting school. With this project, I hope to encourage a love of reading by allowing student choice of their reading materials.

My Project

We are currently attending school in a hybrid model, with half of my students (about 10) attending a full week, every other week. It appears that this will be ongoing throughout the entire school year.

In an effort to provide separate 'library' space for each student, I'd like to add this cubby organizer and some additional age-appropriate books to our classroom.

Currently, we choose a couple of books for each student for the week, collect at week's end and then disinfect and quarantine until the following week. If we are fortunate enough to add these new items, we would be able to give each student their own labeled section so they could 'select' their books from their own personal library and not be limited by us making their choices.
