My Students
I teach fourth graders in an inner-city school in New Jersey. I love my job and find it to be one of the most rewarding feelings when I can change or influence one student's outlook on something. This year, I have 20 students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and neighborhoods. The school's teacher laptops are very outdated and therefore, I am struggling to hook our current laptop up to a projector to teach a lesson. Any donations I receive for my classroom are greatly appreciated by myself, my students, and my parents! I am proud to be a DonorsChoose.org classroom!
My Project
Over the past few years, teaching and learning have changed dramatically. Students are using technology for everyday lessons and activities. As my students now have one to one technology, thanks to Donors Choose, I am using an old projector and desktop computer to teach. I use a document camera for a lot of my lessons. Due to the age of the desk top, the document camera does not always work properly. My students love watching CNN10 news while they are having their breakfast. Lately, the computer has not been able to keep up with the newscast, and we have not been able to watch it. A new laptop would help us to continue to learn and put an end to the days of the slow processing issues.
