Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are high school students who are enrolled in college courses to earn their associate's degree along with their high school diploma. They come to us from all walks of life and are motivated to study and interact in an adult world.
They are bright, eager to learn and readily apply knowledge to real-world situations.
Our students give up the clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities offered by most high schools to study and earn scholarships to fund their college education.
My Project
Students earn a two-year college education as well as a high school diploma. To be successful, they need to cultivate the values of self-discipline and team-building.
Boxing teaches students the values of effort, tenacity, perseverance, and stamina needed to succeed in a technological economy.
Such physical activity translates into the development of better critical thinking skills. Boxing bags, gloves, wrist wraps and training mitts can give students the opportunity to learn and practice these skills in an exciting, fun way. Strength on the punching bags could very well translate into improved focus and meaningful work in the classroom.
Last year was tough with Hurricane Harvey and a lot of change, so we're doing everything we can to make our school have the best learning environment possible!
