Help me give my students the opportunity to blossom into first grade learners next year. Play dough to squeeze, paint to create, dice to play games, and sound phones to celebrate reading will enhance their at home experience.
Kindergarten is the time we plant seeds of learning in our Kinder- Garden. It is a magical time filled with skills that span a life time. Children who entered each day ready to bloom, were unexpectedly transplanted into a new world. We packed activity bags with extra materials and learning packets. Families borrowed devices, found food distribution sites, and changed their world.
I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support, the integrity of perseverance, and the positive work of these families during this difficult time.
Many have lost jobs, some lost housing. Yet, comments are still centered around how this is an opportunity to see how their child learns, as well as to celebrate all that their child knows.
These are the children who appreciate our hands on curriculum geared to tactile seeking learners. These are children who are trying their best in our online learning adventures, yet seek the familiar tools of learning. These are families who need at home materials to help their children grow as learners.
My Project
Young learners need to hold materials in their hands. They learn through repeated sensory experiences. These raw materials will enable them to become authors and illustrators, scientists and engineers. They will make play dough letters and words, create STEM related projects, practice reading and play math games.
These are the materials that this group of young, dedicated learners lack and so deserve.
Their families are diligent and hard working; the children will be able to utilize these materials now and during the summer months. This Garden of Stars will truly bloom!
