I have a class full of energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students! Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes or may live in a motel. All of the students receive free lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances!
Over spring break, our school had painters come into our classroom to paint our walls and in the process, almost all of my decorations, student work, anchor charts, and my wall mural were either completely destroyed or thrown out.
Our school was not forewarned therefore did not take down anchor charts, letter, and sound cards, or any other visuals that are used daily in a classroom! Things were damaged and torn. To many students, school is their safe haven. A place where they have structure and a routine. To some students, school is the cleanest place they have. I take pride in creating a nurturing and calming environment for my students and I want to use this horrible incident to create a brand new inviting space for my scholars. The items that were damaged are materials that we use every day during instruction and the children refer to them during independent work time and must be replaced sooner rather than later!
I am requesting cardstock, chart paper, new borders, nameplates, visual posters, anchor charts, and bulletin board materials that will replace those that were damaged or lost. This will help our room return to its original state full of visuals to help my awesome kids succeed. This project would mean the world to my students who view school as their second home. Please consider supporting this special project. Thank you!
